If you’re planning a commercial fitout in Sydney — whether it’s an office, retail space, medical suite, gym, or a new hospitality venue — you’ve probably heard a few horror stories.
Budgets that blow out. Timelines that drift. Trades that don’t show. Communication that disappears the moment the contract is signed.

I’m Jason Catalano, Director of All Modern Projects, and I started this business because I saw a clear gap in the commercial fitout sector: too many clients were being left to manage risk, uncertainty and stress that should have been handled by their contractor.

Why I started All Modern Projects

In 2012, I started an electrical business and spent years working inside commercial fitouts. That experience gave me a front-row seat to what really happens on projects — the good, the bad, and the stuff clients often don’t see until it’s too late.

Over time, I saw the same patterns repeat:
• Projects being under-scoped at the start, then costly “surprises” appearing mid-build
• Poor coordination between trades causing delays and rework
• Shortcuts that looked fine at handover but created issues later
• Clients feeling like they had to chase updates, answers and accountability

After eight years in that world, I launched All Modern Projects with a simple idea: be the kind of commercial fitout partner I’d want on my own project.

Our approach: partnership first, project management always

A commercial fitout isn’t just a construction job — it’s a business decision.
When you’re opening a new site or upgrading an existing one, you’re balancing brand, customer experience, staff workflow, compliance, and the reality of downtime. The fitout needs to support how you operate day-to-day. Not just look good in photos.

That’s why our approach is built around partnership. We don’t aim to be “a contractor for hire”. We aim to be a team you can rely on — from early planning through to handover.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:
• Clear scope and expectations upfront so you can make confident decisions
• Straightforward communication so you always know where things stand
• Coordination across trades and suppliers to keep the build moving
• Quality control that protects your brand and your long-term maintenance costs
• Realistic timelines and budgets — no smoke and mirrors

The gap I saw in the industry (and what we do differently)

The biggest issue I saw — and still see — is that many projects fail long before anyone steps on site.
When early planning is rushed, documentation is unclear, or coordination is weak, the build becomes reactive. That’s when timelines slip, costs rise, and stress levels go through the roof.

Our focus is to prevent that.

We put time into the front end, we manage the details, and we keep communication consistent — because that’s what protects the outcome.
